Okay, so I admit, this editorial looks different
and may give you
some different insights. No resolutions. Just 12 ideas for 2012. Improvise!
1>
First up,
I
think it would be a good idea to
read or reread a classic
this
year. I have my eyes set on
Anna Karenina
and
The Little Prince.
Or watch
some classics on DVD or TCM on cable TV instead.

> Some of us were
actually bom pre-digital photography, so most of our special memories are
still captured on film. Take some time out to
catalogue family pictures.
I
started last year, with my husband’s childhood pictures and hope to
work on more precious memories this year. Also explore online options
to create family trees or active albums.
3
> This may not sound like a big
deal, but I would really love to
cook an entire meal from scratch
this
year. If you do this anyway, experiment with a completely alien cuisine
(Vietnamese, Mexican, Creole).
4>
This one is really non-glam, but
set up
an appointment with your GP
to prescribe basic age-appropriate medical
tests for your family. Set these up to coincide with birthdays, that way this
may become an annual ritual.
5
> Since I’m a recent convert to all things
Apple, this is definitely one of my to-do’s for 2012—
use technology to
simplify and de-clutter life.
5
> As a multi-tasking queen, you’re perhaps
more centred on everyone else’s wish list, but remember to
splurge on
one big indulgence for yourself.
Jewellery, a massage chair, a designer
bag, a trek in the hills, you take your pick.
7
> Time to also
make one smart
financial decision.
Mine’s probably going to be to finally invest in some
real estate. 8> This one is a little more radical.
Change one thing about
yourself. Radically.
I don’t know if 2012 will be the year I opt for a change
in hairstyle, but I’m still mulling over it.
9
> We always think we will
do
something for charity,
but often don’t end up doing anything concrete.
Cynicism, laziness and selfishness seem to get in the way. Change this in
2012.

>
Surprise your parents.
You need to think this one through on
your own. Treat them to a holiday, a home makeover, a surprise visit.
..
11
>
Start a new ritual with your kids.
You could take them to work for a
bit to see you at your best, you could start driving them to school, or start
golf lessons together. Be creative.

Take a week out of
52
weeks
to
work on the blueprint of your dream project. If you don’t have one, take a
week to plan on what you want to do once you retire!
